This company makes a suite of online and mobile products for coaches and athletes from the smallest youth teams, to high schools, to the most elite college and professional teams. The company is based in Lincoln, Nebraska, but this role is available to someone working remotely from Texas, California, New York, or elsewhere in Nebraska.
The job opening is for a mid-level product designer who has a blend of visual/graphic design talent and coding abilities, and who has a generalist's "T-shaped" experience in interaction design, visual design, HTML/CSS prototyping, and communication abilities. The role of the Product Designer & Prototyper is to be a leader in an agile environment working on the enhancement of the product's features and design through researching, concepting, designing, and prototyping opportunities and key problems.
A strong portfolio of designs and prototypes demonstrating clear understanding of UI and interaction design principles, both graphical and technical, will be essential. Examples of typical UX design deliverables such as wireframes, comps/mockups, and other visual design assets should be included. This company understands that design is about problem-solving and not just visual design aesthetics. Be prepared to show how you've used design techniques and artifacts to support thinking, design, and collaboration on complex projects. Visual appeal is very important, but this company will also be interested in how your portfolio demonstrates your ability to solve problems using design thinking and communication, and to apply user-centered design principles and practices. You should also be able to demonstrate a high degree of skill in translating designs into working prototypes in HTML5 and CSS. Technical work samples, example projects, and/or a link to your work on GitHub would be helpful to demonstrate your coding chops.
